A Gluten Free Gastronomic Tourism Blog by Paola Gabriela Zaragoza Cardenales

What You Need to Know
The blog
In 2010, I wanted to write about food and travel because it was my passion to write and eat. I united these two passions in a blog where she gave restaurant reviews. I couldn’t give the blog much attention because she was either studying or with allergies. I didn’t know why I had those allergies for most of my life. My mom and I searched high and low for solutions with no success with “remedies” that made it worse. It got so bad that I couldn't do stuff like drive, sleep or study because I was constantly sneezing or recuperating. In 2013, I said to my mom that if I didn’t get this solved soon I was going to drop out. For someone that at that time had not missed classes in years, it was a big deal to say and very sad because that meant postponing my dreams to become a lawyer until I got better. My mom and I went to a naturopathic doctor that one of my dad’s friends recommended. She had finally discovered what it was and to my surprise, it was food allergies to gluten and lactose. I came back home confused, but within a few weeks, the progress was notable. When I got better I questioned myself “what am I going to write about in my blog now?”. I light bulb when off that changed the course of this blog forever. I said, “I’m going to write about my journey of exploring the restaurants of Puerto Rico, searching for ways to get around my allergies and still enjoy my love for food.” So, I hope you enjoy it!
